The Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire Department is supported by the donations from the Blue Ridge community which we serve. We have an annual mail out fund drive in the fall of the year but now with our website we can offer an online donation option you can use at your convenience any time of the year. The online donation option uses the convenience and security of PayPal® for your credit card donations.
Your Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire Department has many expenses that must be covered by community donations such as fuel, electric, insurances and equipment. Just to provide the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for one firefighter is quite expensive:
Basic equipment such as fire hose, nozzles, fans and ladders all require maintenance and periodic replacement. Other specialty equipment such as Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), Extrication Equipment, Hydraulic Spreaders and Thermal Imaging Cameras are all expensive to purchase and of course the trucks are very expensive and require regular maintenance. We are fortunate in that the county is very supportive of the volunteer departments and assists in the purchase of the trucks as it would be nearly impossible to raise the $500,000 to $750,000 for a truck purchase. But we must still rely on the community for the funds for many of our other expenses.
