Company1 was dispatched to a vehicle into a building at the Burger, Shakes, and Cream on Rt 460. Engine9, Squad2 and Squad1, responded from the first scene of the night to find a car into the front of the building, Chief 2 took command. Units checked out the occupants and nobody was injured.  Building owner was notified and units cleared.

Company 1, 2(Troutville), 9(Montvale) were dispatched for a multiple car MVA with 1 person still trapt inside a van on its side. Wagon 1 arrived and set up command and started assessing the scene.  Squad 1 arrived and set up stabilization and extrication on the patient still inside. Squad 2 and Engine 9 assisted in cleaning and clearing the scene, while still on scene of this call Company 1 was also put on a MVA with a vehicle into a commercial structure. Squad 1, Squad 2, and Engine 9 responded to the second call, while Wagon 1 remained with the first call.

Company One was dispatched for Air One to respond to a working fire in Fincastle's first due. Asst. Chief 4 arrived to find a commercial farm structure with heavy fire showing. He requested for additional tankers and Wagon One responded as well. Fincastle, Troutville, Eagle Rock, Buchanan, and  Emergency Services worked the fire for several hours.

6-30-10 MVA on Blue Ridge Parkway

 

Company One Responded to a Motorcycle Wreck on the Blue Ridge Parkway near MM 101. Medic 12-7 arrived and advised they had one patient in the ditch with severe injuries. 152 arrived and made the decision to have the patient air lifted to the local trauma center. Wagon 1 arrived and proceeded to the Quarry overlook to set up a landing zone, and shut down the road to the north of the scene. Lifeguard 10 arrived and took the patient to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Wagon 1 cleared the scene and returned to quarters.

Company One and Rescue One were dispatched to a brush fire out of control near a structure. Brush One arrived to find about a half an acre burning less than 50 ft from the structure. The crew from the brush started the attack as the operator and rescue members assisted in stretching a 2 1/2 supply line to the Wagon. Company One cleared the scene  and returned to quarters.

Company One sent a crew and Brush One to the lake Catherine Fire in Buchanan to assist Company 3 with manpower and relieve firefighters who had been on the fire for days.

Company One, Rescue One, Medic 7 were dispatched to a wreck on 460 at Blue Ridge Dr. Wagon 1 and Squad 1 responded to find a small sedan that had hit the rear of a fully loaded dump truck. Heavy damage to the front of the car. Medic 12-7 assesed and transported the driver of the car to the local trauma center as crews shut down the road and  contained  the fluid leak from the car. 750 assesed the driver of the truck and 754 transported him to the local trauma center. Company One stayed on the scene until the truck and car were both removed and diverted traffic through the parking lot of Wings Auto Center. Company One cleared the scene in about an hour.

Company One, Rescue One, Medic 7 were dispatched to a MVA reported to be at 460 at the Bedford County line, but calls were coming in through Roanoke 911. Really the accident was at 460 at the Roanoke County line and Roanoke dispatched Station 12 to the call. Wagon One responded but was quickly disregarded by Lt. 12. The accident was a Truck vs. Bicycle, 1 DOA.

 

Traffic was diverted and quickly backed up several miles. In the back-up another vehicle was rear-ended and called in by a Botetourt Deputy. Company One and Rescue One both responded and found no injuries at the second accident.

Company 1, Rescue 1, Medic 7 were dispatched to a single vehicle accident, called in by Medic 150 at Webster Rd and Rt 460. 150 advised only one patient and that Co.1 and Rescue 1 could handle and cleared Medic7. Company 1 assisted in loading the patient and secured the vehicle and cut the battery cables. Company 1 cleared and returned, and is preparing for a long night in the expected snow storm.

Fatal duplex fire on Westview Rd.

Wagon one responded to assist Company 2 with a fire on Westview Rd.  Wagon 1 responded with 4 personnel and assisted with overhaul operations. Company 1 would like to send its condolences to the family of the victim.

01-25-10 Structure Fire on Gibson Ln in Cloverdale

Company 2, Company 12, Rescue 2, Rescue 12, Medic 7, were dispatched for a possible structure fire on Gibson Ln. Firefighter 415 arrived on the scene and marked it a working fire, adding Company One for Air One. Wagon 2 from Troutville did initial attack and requested for more tankers and manpower. Wagon One contacted command and was then added to the call along with Company 4, Company 3, and Company 5(Hollins). Wagon One was soon after cleared as well as the addititional other units. Air One filled 4 bottles and cleared and returned to quarters.

01-15-10  Wreck at Webster Rd and Rt 460

Company One, Rescue One, and Medic 7 were dispatched to a MVA at Rt 460 in front of Smith's Store at Webster Rd. Wagon 1 and Squad 1 responded and found 2 vehicles blocking the westbound lanes, one with damage to its rear and one with damage to its front. Medic 7 responded with 2 Ambulances and a response vehicle. Needing additional ambulances, medic 12-7 was added to the call. Company One assisted with medical aid and hazard clean up. Company One then cleared and returned to quarters.
